Turbo Touch Secondary School Champs was back again in 2021 and it was bigger than ever!! After having to cancel last years event due to Covid we were stoked to host this event this year with the largest amount of team entries since the tournament’s inception.  This year we had 30 teams enter in the event, these teams coming from 18 schools from Northland all the way down to the Waikato and in between. We were able to again host our 3 grades of Mixed, Girls & Boys and the event was hosted at the Trusts Arena in Auckland.

The day started off with our managers meeting for teachers to set the positive tone for the day and ensure AWHI values were displayed by teams during the day. While this was happening, teams were running through the TouchFit360 warm up to ensure they were warmed up and ready for action.  The tournament structure was 3 grades, 2 pools of 5 in each grade. Teams played each team in their pool with the top 2 teams in each pool qualifying for semi-finals and the winners of the semi’s playing off in a final.

A big thankyou must be given to Whangarei Girls Highschool for allowing 8 students to attend the day to support us with refereeing the event. Seeing these students achieve their Level 1 badges was incredible and well worth the trip down! This year we were fortunate enough to have the event sponsored by d3. This adds so much value to the tournament and the students love the prizes. Thanks again d3, your support is extremely valuable to us. Finally, thank you to The Stream Shop, we were fortunate enough again to have them live stream our event, this helps us expand our exposure of the game. It is so awesome how it still allows schools/parents to watch their teams compete if they cannot attend on the day.
